Games in a Montessori Homeschool
We love games, and Maria Montessori did, too!
Whether it is the Montessori Three-Period Lesson or the Detective Adjective Game, you will find games woven throughout the curriculum in a Montessori setting.
Dr. Maria Montessori was a scientific observer of children. She disovered children like games. I'm sure whether you have a four month old or a four year old (or a fourteen year old), YOU have discovered the same thing!
From Peek-a-boo to lacrosse, games are a landmark of childhood.
Teaching Reading with Games
While learning about Montessori education in the primary years, I came across many ways to play games to teach sound recognition, letter recognition, blending, and writing. These have been compiled into an easy-to-use, open-and-go workbook format in the Montessori Reading Games Workbooks - Level 1 and Level 2.
We play hopscotch, stick letters on the wall with Contact paper, play a fun board game, play BINGO, match letters and pictures, create booklets, write in sand, play "I Spy," and so much more! I hope you will check them out if you want to make teaching reading FUN, EASY, and super effective!
